Newcomers & Neighbors of Winston-Salem, Inc. was organized for the purposes subsequent to section 501(c)(7), a nonprofit social club, to promote friendship among women in the greater Winston-Salem area, encourage social interaction, and offer opportunities to become familiar with the area. We schedule social events, provide charitable services, offer programs of local cultural and educational interest, and encourage participation in a variety of activites.
Emergency Procedures
1. In the event of a state of emergency, Newcomers & Neighbors will abide by all policies and procedures deemed essential by the state or local authorities. Information and updates on said procedures will be regularly conveyed to the membership via digital media.
2. In the event of a winter weather emergency, Newcomers & Neighbors will comply with policies and procedures set forth by the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public School system, as follows:
a. a two-hour school delay – the meeting is held as scheduled
b. cancellation – the general meeting is canceled
3. Other activities/events are held or canceled by the board associate of that activity. Changes to the schedule will be conveyed by either the board associate or the board director who has oversight of the event.

At our general meetings, we welcome visitors, hear guest speakers, and discuss club business. Women are welcome to attend two meetings or activities before joining and paying dues.
We offer monthly activities and welcome member ideas. Quarterly events allow members to bring guests. See below!
For the fiscal year 2023-2024, the annual membership fee is $30.00. This period starts on October 1, 2023, and ends on September 30, 2024. If you choose to join the organization between February 1 and May 31, 2024, you will be charged a prorated fee of $20.00. If you decide to become a member from June 1 to September 30, 2024, the fee will be $10.00.
Our Newcomers and Neighbors Club is a non-profit social organization with a 501(c)7 status. Membership fees cover all operating costs. Board Members and Board Associates are volunteers who do not receive payment for their work.
Get active and participate in our monthly meetings, which have great programs. We also offer a variety of wonderful activities that you can attend. You may want to consider taking up a board position or becoming a board associate as our board members keep our club running and our board associates ensure that our activities run smoothly.
If you possess a passion for something and would like to initiate a new group, please contact Sharon P., who is the Director of Interest Groups, and share your ideas with her.
Come and join Book Chat, a friendly get-together for women. Whether you want to share a book you've read or simply make new friends, you're invited! Our atmosphere is laid-back, and there's no need to have read anything specific. So, bring along your favorite book recommendation or just drop by for a chat with some lovely people.
Feel free to bring books that you'd like to give away to someone in the group.

If you have a passion for plants you've come to the right place! Our group covers everything from houseplants and succulents to herbs, annuals, perennials, fruits, veggies, shrubs, and trees. Whether you're an experienced gardener with a green thumb or a beginner looking to learn more about how to keep your plants healthy and thriving, we welcome you to join us. Let's share our knowledge and help each other grow!
Wednesday, June 12, 2024 - This will be an introductory meeting for anyone interested in learning more about gardening in NC.
We will talk about what you can do over the summer to prepare your gardens for next spring. I'll also share some of my ideas for future Dig It! meetings and welcome suggestions for other topics as well. Members and guests are invited to come and see my (Candy's) garden as well as my husband's vegetable garden. Bring your friend and/or partner. We'll meet at 9:30 before it gets too hot. Canasta is the name of the game in this group. The card players meet twice a month at 2:00 pm to play.
The next games are on June 13th and June 27th. If you're planning to play, be sure to RSVP to
Penny before those dates.

There are many ways to give back to the community, such as providing families in need with gift cards during the holiday season or donating food to local food pantries. Giving a little of ourselves is important to help those in need.
An upcoming event involves providing a home-cooked meal for some Habitat volunteers.
This group meets every other month to embark on exciting adventures in and around Winston-Salem. Aside from experiencing the day's events, the women enjoy a leisurely lunch.
The day trippers will meet on Saturday, June 1, 2024, for lunch and to explore downtown.

In May, the group had a pleasant visit to the Tanglewood Arboretum for their annual spring plant sale and enjoyed a nice lunch afterwards.

Join a lively group of women who enjoy getting together for socializing and playing games. Don't know how to play? No worries, there's always someone happy to teach you the games.
Great news for social mahjong and Rummikub enthusiasts! The group has decided to change the location of their meetings to a public place, and they will now be meeting once a month. The next game is scheduled for June 18, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. If you plan to attend , please inform Ruth by June15. RSVP is required. Maximum 16

Our next social event will take place later this year.
In April, a group of women and their guests met for lunch and a showing of Jersey Boys. A sold out event.
Our Wine Tasters event is held quarterly, and members may invite guests to enjoy an afternoon or evening of wine tasting. The group gathers at a winery or someone's house to sample wines and at times, share appetizers.
Our Wine Tasters group met in May at Childress Vineyards. We had a great time sampling wines and sharing appetizers.

Join this group to chat about cooking and baking! From sharing recipes to discussing the latest kitchen gadgets, members also like to enjoy themed meals they've prepared in advance. Don't worry if you're not an expert - everyone is welcome to learn something new.
The June meetup has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict. If you're interested in a July luncheon, please inform Kathleen G. A summer meeting will be held to discuss upcoming meetups for the next fiscal year.
