The First Ladies is a historical fiction novel that reimagines the extraordinary friendship and partnership between First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt and civil rights leader Mary McLeod Bethune. Set from the late 1920s through the 1940s, the story follows how these two formidable women—from very different backgrounds—meet and form a bond rooted in shared commitments to women’s rights, education, and racial justice.
Potluck Note: Please bring your favorite brunch dish to share—sweet, savory, or somewhere in between. We have no post-meeting lunch scheduled. We look forward to a lovely gathering full of food, friendship, and great conversation!

This group meets every other month to embark on exciting adventures in and around Winston-Salem. Aside from experiencing the day's events, the women enjoy a leisurely lunch.
